“I am an occupational therapist in Inpatient Rehabilitation. When I started here, I was placed on the overflow team, which means that I worked with orthopedics, stroke, amputee and occasional spinal-cord injuries. I have recently been placed on a spinal-cord injury team. I decided to work at Greenville Hospital System because of the staff. I was a student for three months at Roger C. Peace Rehabilitation Hospital prior to working here, and everyone made me feel as though I belonged.
“GHS is a very friendly, supportive atmosphere. Everyone goes out of their way to make sure you feel confident and prepared for your job. The passion at Greenville Hospital is not easy to describe, but the minute you walk in the door, you can see it everywhere, from the housing staff working to keep our facility in excellent condition to the nurses, physicians, and therapists working their hardest to ensure that their patients receive the best and most client-centered treatment possible.
“Working in a hospital setting, you have to be flexible and creative, based on each individual patient’s needs and diagnosis. In addition, open communication with patients, their family members, and other employees is critical to providing the best care and obtaining the most effective outcomes. I am striving to be the best therapist for each one of my patients because I know that even a friendly smile or someone to listen to can make a difference in my patient’s recovery.
“You should choose a career at Greenville Hospital System due to the fact that they continually strive for excellence in health care and research, and because of the people at GHS. Everyone here makes every effort to make sure that you feel comfortable and have the means to become the best at your profession.”
